Before I start, I would like to mention that the purpose of this journal entry is to obtain a greater understanding from the opinions and views of others. This is done in an attempt to help create a better artistic knowledge and bond with my fellow members, but it is my hope that this may become helpful for anyone else that comes across this entry. While I'm not responsible for anything that is said that isn't my own comment, I do ask that some care and thought are put into the comments that are made here. Normally, I wouldn't care over what someone else says, but I'm fully aware that this may be sensitive for some people. With that out of the way, let's begin.
As you all may know, the world of art serves many different purposes for people. For some, art is simply a hobby that provides a way of few hours of peace and joy. For others, art is how some people are able to sustain a healthy and manageable lifestyle. Even this site of deviantART consists of artists of various skill levels and reasons for displaying their work, whether it be personal, professional, or otherwise. Because there are so many different people here with so many different personalities and tastes, we'll all likely bound to a bit of everything in terms of content.
For the most part, it is with this massive variety of art that allows us to grow and develop as artists. However, this also leaves the door open for things that some people may not be prepared for, whether it be with age, moral values, or something else that may be disturbing. While this site is generous enough to provide warnings for art of certain content, it isn't a perfect system, nor will it ever be. Knowing this, I wanted to take the time out to see what it is out there that really draws the line for some people. In other words, when it comes to art, is there anything that you just can't look at without having some sort of negative reaction? It is with the answers I gain here that I would like to use to not only keep my own work as friendly as possible, but perhaps an opinion or two may be enough to have other confused artists out there make an easier decision as to what they could do, as well.
While I know that art is about being able to express yourself and your creative vision, I think there is enough room for a little consideration for your fellow man at times. At the very least, a little knowledge about what some may consider offensive may be enough for the lost artist to find his/her way back to a spot where he/she can feel more comfortable about the work that is displayed. It's nice to have work that draws attention, but for some, it's the kind of attention that matters more than how much is received. These reasons (and probably a few more I'm forgetting at the moment) are the purpose of trying to gain a few opinions from my fellow (and likely far more experienced) artists.
If the reasons are too personal, or if this entry itself offends someone in anyway, feel free to either not respond or tell me so respectively. Afterall, it would be kind of pointless to make an offensive journal entry that was supposed to help keep things as less offensive as possible.

This probably should have been written better, but I'm getting it out of my mind while I'm motivated to type this at the moment (this has been on my mind for over a week now). Thanks for taking the time to read this. Take care!

No one tells me what to do! I write the story of my life, my way, and guess what... You're not a part of it! - Auron, KH2
Princess Daisy is as old as me, and born in the same month as well. Nice coincidence!

I used the Fawful icon a lot back in the day. "I have fury!"
^Ok, that was probably not that helpful, but I really don't know what to tell you.
